50 years of wedded bliss!

August 26, 2009

Words can’t express what an amazing love this couple shares.  I had the honor of not only photographing them for their 50th anniversary, but to be the person who got them to their SURPRISE party!  I’m so happy to say that we pulled it off and they were totally surprised.  They didn’t have a clue!  Carolyn and Doyle met in the 1950’s at Yarnell’s Ice Cream Co. where they both worked.  Carolyn said that she worked in the department that made malts and such and Doyle would come down there for his break.  She said that she thought he was “pretty cute” and she would “twist his ear” to pester him.  I just love stories like that!  I pray that me and John are as healthy and thriving as this lovely couple is when we reach our 50th!

I love the picture of you 2 in front of the Yarnell sign. Your story needs to be a TV commercial for “true love” & Yarnell Ice Cream! Congratulations, Carolyn & Doyle! I knew about the surprise. Your daughters, Robin & Glenda, were so excited to share with their friends @ Curves what they were planning for their very special parents! We were all excited about your “surprise!” Thank you for being such a wonderful example for the rest of us. God continue to bless you 2 with many more wonderful years together. ~Cyndi Nunn Curves for Women in Hodge, LA

About 20 years ago I was doing a history and physical on a female patient of mine. Her husband held her hand and helped finish sentences when she seemed to stumble. She was in a lot of pain. I was trying to make conversation and “escape” politely. I said to them in general that is very obvious to me that they were madly in love. He said, “Son, we have had 47 years of wedded bliss.” She immediately added, “Yes, and we have been married 54.”
It was a Burns and Allen moment (famous commedic couple from long ago for you ‘yungins’ ) and I think a heard a drum roll!!!
