snow baby…

Fact:  Arkansas hasn’t had this much snow in I can’t remember when.  So you better believe that I am not going to pass up the chance to get some beautiful shots of my girls in the snow!  Today, it is all about Lily.  She and I got to spend some time alone just playing and taking pictures.  It was so nice to be together and watch my little girl experience the magic and wonderment of a deep, fluffy snow.  Oh to have the heart of a child again!

A few more favorites from this newborn session…

It’s Workshop Time!!!

by maggiehendrix

Update:  The Workshop is sold out!  Please contact me if you would like to be put on my mailing list for future workshops.  Thanks!

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed teaching my workshops last spring and fall!  At first, I was a little nervous about how I would be as a teacher, but my confidence has definitely grown since the first workshop and I look  forward to the next one each and every time.  All of my past attendees have been such fun and fabulous people and meeting women, and men, from all over the place has been the coolest!  I am flattered to have so many out of state attendees with some driving from 9 hrs away to attend!   Anywho (yes, I said anywho. What of it?), here is my cutesy flyer for my February workshop.  I would just love for you to be there!  Click here for more in-depth 411 on what I cover at the workshop.  Peace out.

Cozumel wedding…

Despite all of the things that went wrong on their cruise, Sam and Justin managed to tie the knot!  This “eventful” cruise faced challenges ranging from being fogged in at port and losing a day and a port of call to having the wedding rained on and 15 foot waves rocking the boat on the way home!  My first destination wedding broke me in well for  expecting the unexpected!  John got to go with me on this trip and even shot back-up for me at the wedding.  I think he did a fabulous job! Though the trip had its challenges, we had so much fun and I look forward to more destination weddings in the future.  Justin and Sam, thanks so much for choosing me to photograph your big day.  It is a day (and a trip) that none of us will soon forget!  Sam and Justin did a first look so that we could take their pictures before the ceremony.  I am so glad we did because just as soon as Sam started to walk down the aisle for the ceremony, it started poring down rain!  Needless to say, the heat, rain and hairspray were not a good combination for our hair!

Samantha was such a knock out!

The above is one of John’s shots

John captured this shot of Sam right before the ceremony

And the rain came down…

I love this shot that John got of the young man serving the champagne

While I was shooting this, John was shooting this…

He did such great job shooting details!  Thank you so much for your help baby!

Happy New Year!!!

2010 January 5
by maggiehendrix

So I’m a few days late.  What of it?  That’s how I roll.  I truly hope you have and incredible 2010.  I am planning on doing all that is in my power to make this year the BEST!   So, I’m going to let you in on my New Year’s resolutions.

For 2010, I plan to:

  • Simplify my life

There you have it folks.  That is my goal for the year.  I know, the list is short.  But, do you have any idea the implications of achieving this goal?  Simplifying just might make me a better momma, a better wife, a better photographer, a better business woman, a better friend, a better cook, a better house keeper, a better eater, a better exerciser, a better rememberer (just made that word up, and it make total sense), a better me.  God made me to be me.  But, it seems over the last couple of years the clutter of life has suppressed my inner Maggie.  And by clutter I mean, being “too busy”, laundry, finances, the 37 dried-up  ink pens in my pencil holder, a pair of size zero jeans that still hang in my closet, unnecessary obligations, basically anything that I don’t need, is going “to the goodwill”.  Ok, no I won’t send the 37 dried up pens to Goodwill.  But everything else is going, I swear.  I plan to spend the next 360 days relishing in my more simple, peaceful life.

What about you?  What changes are you going to make this year?  Better yet, what changes did you make today?

A change I made yesterday was saying “to heck with everything I need to get done today!”.  I took my girls sledding for the first time.  Ever.  Just the three of us, and it was fun.  Every minute of it was fun.  I miss being a kid.

This time, it’s a boy!  And a BIG boy at that!  Little E is already almost 10 lbs. and he is only 2 1/2 weeks old.  Just look at what a sweetie he is!  His momma and daddy are great friends of ours and it has been so awesome to watch their family grow over the years.  Sean and Leigh Anne, thanks for letting me photograph your little guy.  It is always a pleasure. :)

Seriously, this little DOLL couldn’t have been more perfect!  She handled the freezing temperatures yesterday with joy to spare.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all just chill out and be this happy?  And look at those cheeks!  I just can’t stand it! Kathy,  thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to photograph your beautiful grandbaby and her mommy and daddy.  You are such a lovely family.  Merry Christmas!

overdue sneak peek…

This family already has their proofing gallery, but I just had to share some shots from their session.  This session took five months to finally come to pass!  Kimberly first booked with me back in June.  I completely lost count on how many times we had to reschedule due to the weather!  Most people would have given up on trying to make it happen, but Kimberly was determined to get her family shoot in!  Her patience paid off in the end.  I am so glad it worked out when it did.  I Big Puffy Heart the evening light in these pictures.  That warm, hazy, fall glow sets my soul at ease. :)

Beautiful people, Beautiful light, Beautiful images…

If I could put my natural light studio anywhere I wanted, it would be smack dab in the middle of this corridor at The Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs.  The light that this place gets is a photographer’s dream!  Combine that with people that look like this and it just doesn’t get any better for me.  It was such a pleasure to work with this family.  Thank you all for being so sweet and having such great attitudes despite how COLD it was outside!  I truly appreciate it!
